Prepare for another WAP summer.

If the D23 Expo 2022 wasn’t disappointing enough with announcement after announcement of unimaginative reboots and spin-offs, the weather is now rebooting this extremely overdone strategy with their own reboot of the flop series, La Niña! According to the Bureau of Meteorology (home of the weather scientists), she’s definitely making a return in Spring/Summer 2022 and… Vive La Reboot!

Knowing what we’re in store for, it’s prudent to be prepared for the coming months in order to avoid crippling disappointment down the track.
With that:

  • Start researching gumboots now. Or start importing them because from what I can see on THE ICONIC, there’s only one brand available and it’s almost sold out.

  • Get your roof checked and/or fixed now. Or move house before everything you own is destroyed by mold and/or water damage.

  • Make sure your dryer is fully functional. And clean out the lint trap.

  • Find a good weed dealer. According to a lot of Sydney locals, nothing helps pass your seventh consecutive day inside like a doobie and something yumbo from Uber Eats or Deliveroo – whichever is offering the lowest delivery fee at the time of order.

  • List out content. Create a notes page on your phone for film/tv/book/podcast recommendations along with the name of the person who made the recommendation. That way, when you finally get around to watching And Just Like That… you know exactly who to laugh at for thinking it was well written.

  • Leave Sydney! Move to London or the US where it rains but at least there’s a nightlife.

Fingers crossed there are a couple networks out there working on some fresh ideas, because the TV forecast is as grim as the weather. “It blows” is the extremely eloquent feedback from dorks around the world regarding Amazon’s $1 billion jewellery-themed series, Rings of Power (probably because we’re yet to see these alleged statement accessories), and HBO’s Game of Dragons thing doesn’t really hit the mark either. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is as well written as you’d expect from a team that openly admit they don’t know how to write compelling trial scenes – seriously. So… maybe this La Niña will be the reboot of books?
